Halloween Early....

Cody has trick or treating downtown in the stores every year, which works out great....like one stop shopping! No getting in and out of carseats in the cold, trick or treating. Get to see all of the different costumes and get candy all in one place. Even the dogs get into it, as you can see from the hot dog bassett hound above. I always like the headless horseman, he is there every year. And every year, he still creeps me out, but still, I look for him.

Scary Spider Cupcakes....

Riley & Syd each have to bring "treats" to their preschool Halloween party this week. I was bored, surfing the net for some creative baking project to do, and came across this idea. Not sure where I saw it, b/c I was on so many different websites, but thought it was a great idea! So, you frost the cupcakes with white first, then use a tip point (I have a Wilton decorating kit) to do concentric circles on top of the white. Then, take a toothpick, run it through the circles to create the spider web look. Finally, top with a plastic spider ring that the kids can have to wear later...and presto, cute Halloween cupcakes. They were actually fun to make & not too terribly time consuming. Hope the kids like them as much as I do!

Pumpkin Carving...

We finally got around to carving a pumpkin! Sydney didn't want any part of it though, she said the insides of the pumpkin were "disgusting". Riley had a blast though. Didn't have a pumpkin carving kit this year, so we went kept it simple with the standard Jack-O-Lantern face!

So, for those of you who don't know...and are wondering WHY I am posting both girls birthday pics..their birthdays are only 3 days apart. So far, I've been able to get away with having ONE party for both girls. I'll take that as long as I can! Even more interesting, our nephew's birthday is three days before Sydney's, and my mother-in-law's birthday is 3 days after Riley's!! So every 3 days for 12 days, someone in our family has a birthday! October is a BUSY month!

Happy 5th Birthday Riley Jo!

Where DOES the time go? Seems like just yesterday Riley was a baby, and now she is not...It makes me a little sad, but then I look at the little girl she is becoming and I'm very proud of her! She is so full of energy, life and happiness! I love how smart she is, how quickly she learns things, her inquistiveness, her competitive nature, her determination & her ability to enjoy the moment. She is such a good helper, and even when she is bad, she is still hard to stay mad at. I've seen so much change in her over the past year, and I am proud of what a great kid she really is! I love you to the moon and back Riley Jo Jo!

Syd, How Old Are You Now?

"Two & a half," she says. "No you're three now", I tell her. Took her awhile to figure it out, but once her party started, she was fully aware that she was three. And let me tell you, that girl can bust a move!

Things I Love About My Youngest Child...

She is so quick to laugh,
entertain,
dance & sing,
say "thank you momma" unprompted & sincere,
loves hugs & kisses,
ALWAYS wakes up in a good mood,
full of life & absolutely LOVES her grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins
is a junk food junkie to a fault,
will say she needs help eating her dinner, but has NO problem inhaling dessert on her own,
loves to play dress up, wants her toenails painted & frequently asks if her outfit is "pretty",
she makes me laugh every day,
her new favorite saying is "You're freakin me out",

And oh, Syd, you're one of the greatest kids God has ever made...and I'm so very very glad that he sent you to me! I love you & happy third birthday!

Amazing....

I had to put this on here...it was too cool not to (at least in my mind). We were driving to dinner tonight, and Riley looked out her window, to where two planes' exhaust overlapped. She said "look mom, there is a cross in the sky, like what Jesus died on & every time you see a cross, you should remember him". I guess she listens in church more than I realized....it took me a minute to actually see the cross (which could've been dangerous anyway, b/c I was driving). It was a moment when I think God sometimes speaks to remind us through a child. I loved it!

Birthday Bliss Begins....

I know, I'm a dork, posting baked goods pictures...but I thought this was the cutest idea, and I've never seen it before. I found this brownie baking tray @ a craft store in Billings. You bake the brownies (they come out shaped like a flower) and then decorate them w/ icing (of course, Sydney picked pink frosting) & then put them on a stick. Comes out like a lollipop brownie. Sydney said she wanted to take brownies to preschool for her birthday, and this was so much more fun than regular old brownies!! And, best of all, its SUPER easy! More birthday photos to follow, I'm sure....

The Laminator!!

I broke down & bought this laminator today....I needed it for the project below. I was going to take the papers to a local UPS store or something & have them do the laminating...but it was a LOT of laminating. So, this really works well if you ever need one! Its super easy to use, and your pages are laminated in seconds! I think I'll be laminating tons of things now, could get scary.......!!!
